About John Beilein:

John Patrick Beilein was born in Burt, New York, and coached basketball for over thirty years at the high school and junior college levels, and in all

three NCAA Divisions, before becoming the University of Michigan’s head basketball coach in 2007. In twelve seasons with the Wolverines,

Beilein compiled an overall record of 278 – 150 for a .650 winning percentage. He led Michigan to two Big Ten regular season (2012, 2014) and two Big Ten tournament championships (2017, 2018). Beilein’s Wolverines went to the NCAA Tournament nine times and played in the NCAA title game in 2013 and 2018.

He earned Big Ten Coach of the Year honors in 2014 and was named 2018 National Coach of the Year by CBS Sports. In 2019 Beilein left Michigan as the winningest men’s basketball coach in school history, and his 754 collegiate wins ranks twenty-second all time. In 2018 he was inducted into the

Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Hall of Fame and in 2022 he became a member of the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame.

He has served as a Senior Advisor for the Detroit Pistons since 2021.
